1992, April – The Beginning of Group 92 Mechanical
The economy entered the deep recession of the 1990’s. In a spare bedroom of College Street in Fonthill Ontario and only 25 years old, Stephen Coote decided to take his previous business experience with Penn Mechanical and form Group 92 Mechanical.
1994- Partner, Domenic Iannarelli Joins Group92
Domenic Iannarelli joins the company as a plumbing journeyman. Domenic’s trade acumen and university education in physics would be instrumental in broadening Group 92 Mechanical’s expertise. Domenic would go on to become a partner in the firm.
1999- First Million Dollar Project
Just as Group 92 completed the first project for Newman Bros, Group 92 would complete its first million-dollar project for Newman Bros, an automotive manufacturing plant, Hayes Dana, in St. Mary’s Ontario. This was a major milestone project for the company at the time.
2004- Group 92 Gains Momentum
The company is gaining momentum and crosses another major project milestone with the completion of a New Four Pad arena for the City of St. Catharines.
2006- Senior Partnership
Domenic Iannarelli purchases additional shares to become a Senior Partner in the company.
2008- Group 92 Joins the Green Building Movement
Group 92 Mechanical joins the Green Building Movement, a movement which desires to Lead and accelerate the transformation of the built environment into one that is more sustainable, healthy and green throughout Canada.
At the same time, Group 92 won a bid to aid in the construction of the Brock University ‘The International Building’. Teamed up with Merit Contractors, the two contractors integrated their new Green Building mandate into their project and became leaders in St. Catharine’s, by building one of the two LEED-certified buildings in the city.
2010- Embracing Digitization
The company digitizes the remainder of its operations, from Project Management to full on-screen Takeoff’s and Estimations. The company purchases Quick Pen estimation software, a state of the art program that allows users to utilize on-screen takeoffs of PDF and CAD drawings. Group 92 was one of first in the area to adopt this program.
2013 – Stepping Up
Stephen Coote becomes a member of the Canadian Construction Board of Directors.
2014- Canadian Construction Innovations
Stephen Coote joins the Canadian Construction Innovation council as an Executive Board Member.
2017 – Milestone: 25 Years Strong!
Group 92 proudly celebrates its 25th year! A milestone not only for the company but many of the employees who also celebrate their 10th, 15th, 20th and 24th years with the Group.
